By the time Talent Acquisition receives an approved role, important choices about capability, structure, timing and cost may already have been made.

In some organisations, alternatives to external hiring may not be considered systematically. In others, internal capability, development, mobility, technology or different ways of organising the work are considered, but the ability to do so consistently may depend on individual knowledge, relationships or processes rather than being built into how the function operates.

The commercial impact can extend well beyond the cost of recruitment.
